Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a brand league worldwide that was introduced in 2016 by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Islamabad United was the first team to win the first PSL trophy under the captaincy of Great Pakistani player Misbah-ul-Haq. Their head coach was Dean Jones who passed away at the age of 59 on September 24, 2020. PSL was introduced with five teams: Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, and Lahore Qalandars. Lahore Qalandars could not reach the semi-final in the first four seasons but later they won the PSL title two times under the captaincy of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Multan Sultans was founded in 2017 as a sixth team with contract payments of $5.2M per season.

Habib Bank Limited (HBL) became the official partner of the Pakistan Super League in 2016. That’s why it is called HBLPSL but the HBL contract will end in 2025. After that, their owners will decide whether or not they retain this sponsorship. In every season, many different companies sponsor HBLPSL in 2024, KFC and Jubilee Life Insurance officially sponsor this league. These sponsors also announce different rewards for their audience like KFC announcing one scholarship per six in every single match. Further, Pepsi (league partner) also set an offer for the audience called “Pepsi share a Beep”. Everyone who beeps Pepsi in front of the camera will get an equivalent share of crore rupees.
