Good news for the public, further reduction in the prices of petroleum products is expected
The government is likely to reduce the prices of petroleum products for the second time in 15 days. According to sources, a reduction of Rs. 12.84 per liter is expected in the price of petrol. Petroleum Ministry sources said that the price of petrol has decreased by $7.26 per barrel in the international market, after which the price of petrol has reached $98.99 per barrel in the international market. Similarly, a decrease of Rs. 8.30 per liter is expected in the price of diesel, the price of diesel has decreased by $4.68 per barrel in the international market to $99.37 per barrel. The new prices of petroleum products will be implemented from May 16, 2024 after the approval of the Prime Minister. It may be recalled that currently petrol is being sold at Rs 288.49 per liter and diesel at Rs 281.96 per liter. It is pertinent to mention that the government is also charging Rs 60 per liter as petroleum levy on petrol and diesel, while dealers are getting a margin of Rs 8.64 per liter on both products.
