Microsoft Will Remove Control Panel from Windows After 40 Years

Microsoft always adds new features in Windows, but this time they announced the removal of some outdated programs and system elements such as Paint 3D and Control Panel. Soon these items will disappear from Windows.

According to Neowin, Microsoft has officially confirmed that they are planning to remove the Control Panel sometime soon. The news of detaching the control panel from the system first appeared in 2011 before the release of Windows 8.1. In 2015, the company’s executives even confirmed that they intended to replace the Control Panel with a new settings app.

Microsoft officially stated that,

"Control Panel is in the process of ending support in favor of the Settings app, which offers a more modern and simplified experience."

Soon you will experience a new settings app with Control Panel functionality. In the first phase, they will move some functions into the settings app then the Control Panel will disappear.

Remember, the Control Panel appeared in Windows in 1985 with version 1.0. Now finally 39 years later, the company is planning to abandon it.
